Eon is about a girl who must pretend to be a boy to survive. If anyone finds out her secret she and her loved ones will die. The reason for her deception is that she is being trained to be a Dragoneye, someone who can use one of the twelve zodiac dragons’ power. Each dragon has only one and they serve for twenty-four years. Eon, the girl, is one of the candidates for the apprenticeship to the Rat Dragon and if she does not succeed her master will sell her. Even though he doesn’t choose she is still chosen by the Mirror Dragon, or the Lost Dragon, who hasn’t been seen in centuries. After this, she is taken to the palace where she learns the ways of the court and while there she must still keep her secret for fear of death. She forms new alliances as tension rises between the king’s supporters and his brother. When the king dies of an illness her identity is revealed to the antagonist and she must also use her powers to help the prince regain his throne. However, the rest of the Dragoneyes are killed by the Rat Dragon’s. Eon then retrieves a book containing the name of her dragon in order to fully use her powers. When she and the dragon finally connect she fights off the Rat Dragon and his Dragoneye, afterward joining the resistance against the king’s brother and ready to help the prince in the next book.
